# AI Assistant Fundamentals

> What the AI Assistant is for, which questions it answers, and where its limits lie.

The *AI Assistant* answers questions about your own Docusnap365 environment
in plain language — from the recorded inventory with its relations, scan
results, risks and controls, and from the Docusnap365 documentation. It is
included in every edition and reachable from every page through the
*AI Assistant* button in the header.

<Note>
  Closing the assistant does not end the conversation: reopening it brings
  back the same history. It is discarded only via *"Start a new chat"*, see
  [Having a Conversation](/docs/en/assistant/conversation).
</Note>

## Kinds of questions

| Kind | Example |
| - | - |
| *Inventory* | "Which servers haven't been scanned in over 30 days?" · "Show me all assets without a location" |
| *Analysis* | "Which operating system versions are in use?" · "What are my at-risk systems?" |
| *Generate a document* | "Create a Statement of Applicability for ISO 27001 as a PDF" — the assistant attaches the file to the answer |
| *How-to* | "How do I create a scan job?" · "What does criticality K1 mean?" — the answer comes from the Docusnap365 documentation |

<Tip>
  Before you ask anything, the assistant shows example questions as a
  suggestion — not a menu, but examples of questions it answers well.
</Tip>

## Limits

The assistant only knows what is recorded in Docusnap365. A system that was
never scanned or created does not exist for it.

<Warning>
  Responses may contain errors. Verify numbers and lists you rely on in the
  respective list.
</Warning>

<Note>
  A very long conversation loses its beginning. Start a new conversation for a
  new topic.
</Note>

## Response language

The assistant answers in the language set under *Language* in
[Appearance](/docs/en/settings/appearance). If that setting cannot be determined,
it answers in English.
