# Tracking Changes in the Journal

> Use the journal to trace who changed which record of the subscription, and when.

Under *Administration › Auditing › Journal* you see the changes to your
subscription's data, newest first. The journal on an individual record shows
only that record's changes; this journal lists the entries of all records in
one list.

Like the whole of *Administration*, the journal opens only for the *Owner* and
*Administrator* roles.

## Columns

| Column | Content |
| - | - |
| *Time* | date and time of the entry; the list is sorted by it, descending |
| *Message* | text of the entry |
| *Event* | the recorded event |
| *Record* | the affected record |
| *Object Type* | type of the affected record |
| *User* | the user who made the change |

Every column can be filtered. The filter on *Object Type* offers the types of
your data model, the filter on *User* the users of the subscription. How search
and filters work together in lists is described under [Lists and
filters](/docs/en/assets/lists).

<Tip>
  To review one person's changes to one type, combine the filters on *User* and
  *Object Type*.
</Tip>

## Limits

The journal is a read-only list. Entries can be neither edited nor deleted.

<Note>
  The list does not refresh by itself. Changes made after you opened it appear
  only when you reload the page.
</Note>

## Related

Which role a user holds and who may open *Administration* is described under
[Users and Roles](/docs/en/settings/users).
