Never again search for cable connections in the rack

June 6, 2019

If you read the articles on various IT forums, you will come across the following or similar question again and again: “How do you handle the cable tangle in your racks?

And maybe you know cases like this yourself: The new server room was moved into a few months ago and equipped with racks. In the meantime some time has passed and you can only find a hopeless tangle of cables in the racks.

In these cases, it’s not so much a matter of the beautiful appearance as of the decisive fact that the cable clutter in question can quickly become a major problem for the entire company. What if, for example, individual components have to be serviced? Studies show that human error is the main cause of data center downtime. Cables that are not easy to read can quickly be confused by employees or system operators. And that could be the case. It’s hard to imagine what the possible consequences would be.

Simple and secure access to individual components must be guaranteed at all times. Do you really still have an overview? Or you must meticulously search for cable connections, which in a rack often means searching for the needle in a haystack.
