A warranty is a record of its own consisting of a name, a manufacturer, a list of Coverages, and linked Assets. Its term follows from the coverages: Valid From is the earliest start date, Valid Until the latest end date among all coverages. Warranties come into being in two ways: created by hand, or determined automatically through a manufacturer lookup. What that means for editability is described under Looking Up Warranties Automatically.

Overview

ITAM › Warranties summarizes the state in five figures: Total, Active (with the covered share as a percentage), Expiring Soon (ending in less than 180 days), Expired, and Automatic (the share from the manufacturer lookup). The list shows Name, Manufacturer, Valid From, Valid Until, and Status, with a filter button per status above it.
Expiring Soon shows the warranties ending in the next months — the basis for renewal or replacement.

Creating a Warranty

The Warranty button opens the Add Warranty dialog. Required are the Warranty Name and at least one coverage with Description, Valid From, and Valid Until; Manufacturer and linking assets are optional and can be added later. If you already select assets while creating the warranty, the dialog shows the required Relation Type field — the same logic as linking anywhere else.
If only the asset linking fails after creating a warranty with assets selected, the warranty still counts as created. Add the links afterwards on the warranty’s Relations tab — creating it again produces a second warranty.

Editing Coverages and Assets

The detail page has three tabs: Overview (term, status, remaining days), Coverages, and Relations. On the Coverages tab you add more through the Coverage button; clicking a row opens Edit Coverage — for manually created warranties. The Relations tab links and unlinks assets the same way as everywhere else in the product.
Start and end date can only be edited directly on the overview if the warranty has exactly one coverage. With several coverages, set the dates on the Coverages tab.
Deleting a coverage is final and cannot be undone. Every change to a coverage affects the warranty’s term and status — and with it the display on the linked assets.
Looking Up Warranties Automatically describes what is locked on automatically determined warranties and how you trigger a refresh.
