The Asset dialog above a list creates one or more assets. It is the only
place in the module with a form of its own — everything else follows from
your type configuration.
Single or multiple
A switch toggles between Single and Multiple. Both modes capture the
same four fields:
If a field offers exactly one value after loading, it is preset — you can
still change it.
The dialog offers only the types of the list you opened it from in the
Type field. Which types those are follows from your inventory.
Duplicates
If an asset with the same name and type already exists, the name field
warns — creating the asset is still possible. The same device name can
appear at two locations in your inventory. In Multiple mode, the same
check additionally applies within the table itself: if a name and type
appear a second time in the same entry, that is flagged too, without
blocking the save.
Creating several assets at once
In Multiple mode you fill a table instead of a form. Two ways besides
typing:
- Paste — paste spreadsheet rows with Ctrl+V, in the column order Name,
Type, Organization, Location.
- Import CSV — a
.csv, .tsv, or .txt file with the same column
order.
Matching Type, Organization, and Location runs against your current
interface language, case-insensitively. A table in a different language
than your interface finds no match for the type — the field stays empty,
and a row without a type cannot be saved.
A recognized header row — with a column such as Name, Type, or
Location — is skipped. Already filled rows stay as they are; only empty
ones are replaced. Rows without a recognized type are counted separately in
the success message; add the type by hand afterward.
Saving
Create stays disabled while Name or Type is missing in the visible mode; a
tooltip on the button names the missing fields. In Single mode, the tab of
the new asset opens after creation. In Multiple mode, the success message
reports how many assets were actually created — on a partial success,
separately from the failed ones.
