Docusnap Version 6.3 Out Now!
The wait is over! The new Docusnap Version 6.3 has just been released. This version again boasts a number of innovative features, enabling you to document your IT environment even more comprehensively and accurately.
A new feature is the inventory and documentation of Veeam. This means that you can now integrate – besides Symantec Backup Exec – another data backup solution into your IT documentation.
In addition, numerous optimisations and enhancements for current software products have found their way into the new version, e.g. the option to also inventory and document cluster solutions for Microsoft Hyper-V environments. New features for the documentation of software licenses have been added to the License Management module. For example, the Dashboard gives you a quick overview of the licenses that have not yet been registered in License Management or reveals the software with the greatest number of different versions found.

Docusnap at the IP EXPO 2014
After 2013, Docusnap was featured again this year’s IP EXPO Europe in London. The exhibition, which was held on the 8th and 9th of October 2014 at the ExCeL exhibition centre in London, turned out to be a striking success for itelio GmbH, the manufacturer of the Docusnap software solution. This year again, we had many exciting and intensive talks, focusing mainly on the presentation of Docusnap version 6.2. Talking to many interested visitors, the members of the Docusnap exhibition team explained the features of the new version 6.2. The entire Docusnap team takes this opportunity to say a big thank you again to all visitors and partners contributing to a successful IP EXPO Europe 2014!
New Docusnap Version 6.2 Out Now!
The wait is over! From now on, the new version 6.2 of the Docusnap software solution is available. Docusnap 6.2 includes the following new features and modules: :

3.) Inventory and documentation of ORACLE databases
4.) Documentation of network switch VLAN configurations

Once you have installed Docusnap 6.2, you will immediately notice the new user interface. The new version has adopted the look and feel of Office 2013. The user interface was streamlined to include only the essential features, but the basic functionality of the Docusnap software has not changed. With Docusnap, the first step still consists in inventorying the IT environment, followed by the creation of IT relations. Smart relations enable you to carry out a comprehensive analysis of the network, e.g. dependencies and interrelations between services and user accounts can be defined. Information which is normally hard to obtain or whose retrieval would require considerable effort, is now easily accessible, thanks to the IT Correlations feature.
Moreover, with version 6.2, you can inventory two additional products: besides the configuration of Symantec Backup Exec data backups, you also can scan Oracle databases. For Windows servers, it is now possible to document the DFS roots settings. For the creation of overviews and plans, a native Visio file format can be used now.
What is more, Docusnap 6.2 now also allows you to document the VLAN configurations of your network switches. Version 6.2 boasts many detail improvements. Structural improvements and simplifications make the software even more user-friendly.
Customers with a valid maintenance agreement are entitled to a free license key for version 6.2. They can thus upgrade their existing installation to the new version 6.2 free of charge.

Docusnap Enjoys Great Success at the CeBIT 2014
The publisher of the multi-award winning Docusnap software solution, itelio GmbH, looks back at the CeBIT 2014 with great satisfaction. Excellent talks with prospects, customers, and partners laid the foundation for a very successful presence at the CeBIT. Special focus was on the presentation of the 6.2 beta version. So, hundreds of visitors took the opportunity to watch the 6.2 beta version live at our booth and got detailed information on the new features first-hand from our experienced Docusnap consultants. “The new features were unanimously received very positively by virtually all visitors,” says Peter Kurz, managing director of itelio GmbH. He is especially pleased about the fact that many visitors who had not considered a software solution for IT documentation before could be convinced by Docusnap. The common perception was that this software simply has a great appeal with its variety of possible applications and, in addition, version 6.2 responds to the suggestions made by many of our customers. Thus, Docusnap is now even more user-friendly than before.

Swisscom clocks up time savings with IT documentation from Docusnap
IT documentation software from Docusnap has enabled Swisscom IT Services AG (ITS), one of the leading Swiss IT service providers to save time and money while improving organisational efficiency and transparency.
Swisscom IT Services AG provides IT outsourcing, SAP, and workplace and finance services. With a staff of around 3,000 and a customer base of approximately 400, the company looks after a range of organisations from large enterprises to SMEs. Specialising in managing the on-premise infrastructures of its customers, Swisscom needed a solution to document the IT environments of companies to ensure it was providing accurate and timely consulting services.
Prior to the introduction of Docusnap, even the simplest tasks proved difficult: “We always had the problem that the engineers had no time for proper IT documentation and the documentation really reflected it; it had no consistent quality and, above all, it was barely understandable. It was difficult to pass on the information to colleagues, or to collect it transparently at a central location,” said Rüdiger Ruttkowski, ICT architect at Swisscom.
“Since we implemented Docusnap, we’ve not experienced any of the problems of the past. Now, every member of staff can install the software locally on their PC, filter the desired values for each customer, and store them in a central database,” he continued.
The software was implemented smoothly and Ruttkowski’s team could start working right away, soon realising that the time savings were significant: “The team now has absolute control of the customer network documentation and can turn their attention to their actual tasks. The first use of Docusnap was for one of our major customers, and in a very short time the software had supplied us with the necessary comprehensive information – something that in the past had been a tedious procedure involving time-consuming phone calls and email correspondence.”

Swisscom consultants use Docusnap to create a documentation system and perform an analysis, an integral part of every project. During this process, consultants are able to point out inaccuracies in licensing and configurations to their customers, and can also address topics beyond the permission in context.

Docusnap sparks huge interest at the CeBIT
Visitors came in great numbers to see the presentation of the new Docusnap version 6.1 at the CeBIT trade show. From March 5 – 9, itelio GmbH introduced its improved software for IT documentation in Hanover. Apart from its well-known features, this version opens new possibilities for automated and comprehensive documentation of complex IT networks.
There was an enormous response during the five trade show days: Thousands of visitors came to the itelio booth and the consultants conducted almost 500 one-to-one interviews. They informed interested visitors especially about the new features of the Docusnap software solution. The DocusnapConnect and DocusnapLink interfaces allow easy integration into third-party applications such as support ticket systems. What is more, Docusnap 6.1 lets you create, import, and manage any desired asset types. Besides VMware and Hyper-V environments, the new version inventories Citrix XenServer and enables you to perform permission analyses in Microsoft Exchange environments. Finally, the user interface of the IT Concepts module has been improved.
“The new features got very positive feedback from the visitors”, says Peter Kurz, itelio Managing Director. “Some people already knew the previous Docusnap version 6.0. They were enthusiastic about the new milestone in development. With version 6.1, we implemented many additional functions our customers wished to see in Docusnap.” Moreover, the software convinced numerous visitors who are still doing without any solution for professional IT documentation. “The great benefit of our product becomes evident immediately. 2013 IT Innovation Award: Docusnap came in second best
The “Initative Mittelstand” (German SMB syndicate) praised the new Docusnap version 6.1. The software solution for professional IT documentation has entered the top 3 in the 2013 IT innovation award. Thus, the software was automatically nominated for the prize in the Systems Management category. This second place once again confirms the performance and innovative strength of Docusnap. itelio GmbH was only beaten by Matrix 42, the third place was awarded to VMware with its Go Pro software. Some 50 software publishers had applied for the innovation award in the Systems Management category.
The new version 6.1 of Docusnap impressed the “Initiative Mittelstand” jury with a number of new features: The DocusnapConnect and DocusnapLink interfaces allow easy integration into third-party applications such as support ticket systems. In “Praxisbuch IT Dokumentation”, a German-language best practices book for IT documentation, the authors Manuela and Georg Reiss rely on Docusnap to demonstrate
how to create a professional and meaningful sample documentation for computing systems.

IT Innovation Prize 2012 for Docusnap
For years, the German SMB Initiative has awarded an innovation prize for products in the ITC industry which are especially well-suited for the use in SMBs.
On March 09, 2012, the innovation prizes for 2012 were awarded at the CeBIT trade fair in the presence of hundreds of guests from politics, economics, and the ITC industry.
